Tal-y-Cafn Hotel & Restaurant, Conwy
Complete renovation of this popular pub in Wales including full interior design and fit out.
The interior design scheme for this Welsh pub embraces a warm, rustic aesthetic, celebrating local heritage and craftsmanship. Reclaimed wood is the primary material throughout the space, used for wall cladding, exposed ceiling beams, and a custom-built bar. The natural patina and varied textures of the wood create an inviting, lived-in atmosphere.
Industrial lighting fixtures hang above tables and along the bar. These lights feature aged metal finishes and Edison bulbs, casting a soft, ambient glow that enhances the pub’s cozy feel. Wood screens, are strategically placed to create intimate seating areas while maintaining an open flow and visual connection across the space.
The bar serves as the focal point, constructed from thick, reclaimed wood planks with a copper surface. Behind the bar, open shelving made from a metal framework displays glassware and bottles, adding to the rustic charm.
Traditional elements, such as woven textiles, are incorporated as accents, reinforcing the pub’s sense of place. The overall palette is earthy and muted, with deep greens, warm browns, and touches of slate grey, creating a welcoming environment that invites guests to relax and enjoy the authentic Welsh pub experience
